  •  March 9, 2006 -- Point of view shared by Bruce Donnelly about the new OECD Policy Framework for Investment initiative.
    • The response was focused on the perspective of business executives who invest in capital investment projects, rather than just national government or multilateral policy leaders, as in the context of our Global Direct Investment Forum initiative to support innovative approaches to local business cluster development.
    • Aside from Bruce's own observations about the importance of developing better business climates at both the national and local levels in developed and developing countries, rather than becoming too complacent about success in a fast-changing global market, there were other interesting responses from other points of view.
    • The comments, along with others who responded to the OECD Investment Committee request for feedback, are now shared through the OECD website.
    • The reply and others can be downloaded in an Adobe PDF file at http://www.oecd.org/dataoecd/27/44/36199688.pdf

    • See more about the Policy Framework for Investment , which offers guidance on national policy choices which may help to attract business investment.
    • Investment Division, Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs - Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development   www.oecd.org/investment

    • This October 2005 OECD Observer article by the chair of the OECD Investment Committee about the Policy Framework for Investment may also be helpful as background about this initiative, which has evolved in recent years through the "Monterrey Consensus" in 2005 and other multilateral development meetings.

    • We have no affiliation with the OECD.  We were just sharing our point of view with their Task Force in reply to their open request for feedback about the Framework prior to the March meeting of the Investment Committee since the planning of foreign direct investment projects has been Bruce's specialty for many years.

  •  February 24, 2006 -- Collaboration with STELLAR Fundraising Executives
    • We will be launching a campaign over the months ahead to attract the active participation of top executives in this initiative and also raise the funds necessary for the related Global Direct Investment Foundation to have an impact in many communities soon through rapid growth of the GDI Forum and GDI Foundation to scale.
    • We thank STELLAR Fundraising Executives for already sharing information last week with their past and current clients about this unique initiative.
    • We expect to work with them soon on the multi-year campaign we have planned to grow the Global Direct Investment Forum and Foundation rapidly.
    • As usual, the first phase of such work will be to seek feedback, with their independent research assistance, about the interests of potential participants.
    • The campaign isn't just to seek funding.  It is to help develop an action-oriented network of executives committed to the development of globally competitive business clusters in places of interest to them, whether or not those places are the location of their headquarters or major existing or planned operating unit
    • They will also be sharing information about this initiative with other contacts in their next e-mail newsletter to help alert others to this initiative.
    • For example, this may be particularly relevant to Chamber of Commerce executives since their members may already support local economic development.

  • January 16, 2006 -- Background about the Global Direct Investment Forum
    • The Global Direct Investment Forum is where corporate social responsibility and sustainable community development meet to achieve corporate, economic, and social development goals through innovation, social entrepreneurship, and the positive impact of global direct investment projects on communities in transition worldwide as companies grow.
  •  Refer also to the meaning of the logo
    • The global impact of working together on local business investment decisions can transform a world of growing communities.  Three networks can work together to uplift the world.
